mmmm ...I am relatively new to the morel game but they are tasty and fun to find...how long is the season on the east-side anyway?

The season's late this year, so it's hard to tell. Maybe another couple of weeks. Then the burn morels will start popping and can be picked until mid to late July. Find a forest fire area that's burned within the last three years and you'll fine morels later in the season. Nice looking specimens, by the way.

yeah so far I have only found about 16-20 ... but each time I have been able to get at least one nice sized one....found some baby ones that I let grow and boy did a couple of them take off! .... I like to just fry them up with butter and maybe some garlic salt... have found them in bark beds lately too...

Try finishing them off with some cooking sherry. It creates a chemical reaction that really enhances the flavor. Add a couple of ounces just before you're done cooking and let it reduce and thicken before you take them off. It's awesome.
